WORKSHOP 1

THE PLUG-IN HEV WORKSHOP

Sunday April 3, 08:30 - 17:00

Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) intelligently combine the use of grid electricity with conventional or alternative fuels to deliver many of the benefits of both pure electric vehicles and hybrid electric vehicles. Plug-in HEVs address many of the pressing environmental and sustainability concerns in the transportation sector by dramatically reducing fuel consumption and providing an efficient pathway for the utilization of renewable electricity and other alternative fuels.

Co-sponsored by the Electric Power Research Institute, Southern California Edison, Electricité de France, and the International Energy Agency's Implementing Agreement on Hybrid and Electric Vehicles, this workshop combines informative expert presentations with a high degree of dialogue and participant interaction. The workshop is designed to provide attendees with a complete understanding of the latest technologies, commercialisation projects, and market transformation efforts. The session will address the following topics:

  • Plug-in HEV technical design and attributes
  • Presentations by vehicle manufacturers
  • Global Climate Change-facilitating near-term action with PHEV technologies
  • Energy security-a gateway to transportation fuel diversity and effective use of alternative fuels
  • Energy and infrastructure requirements of PHEVs
  • PHEV costs, market potential, and customer preference
  • Linkages to fuel cells and a hydrogen economy
  • Commercialization efforts and future challenges

The workshop registration fee is $150, which includes all workshop materials and presentations plus a CD-ROM of relevant literature and reports.  Lunch will be provided. Please follow this link to download the latest agenda and list of speakers or to register for the workshop. Note that the registration fee has been lowered from $200 (150¤) to $150.
