Welcome To APEC 2004!
APEC 2004 Was A Huge Succcess!

The members of the APEC Conference and Steering Committees believe in continuous improvement and have put that belief into action in the past year. There is so much new in APEC 2004 that we had to create a special Web page! Here are some of the things we've done to make APEC even better:
More Papers Than Ever Before
Some conferences give you as little as 60 papers for your registration fee. This year APEC brings you 297! papers, selected by a stringent review process from almost 600 submissions, in all areas of power electronics.
Speaking of the review process, APEC gave it a complete overhaul this year. We adopted a new system that we hope selected the papers with most focus on the applied and the practical. As the APEC week goes, please let us know how we did.
New Special Presentation Sessions
In addition to the 297 papers described above, APEC is bringing you 17 Special Presentations from industry leaders to bring you up to date on the latest in semiconductor technology and power electronics research. These promise to be fascinating presentations and you won't want to miss any of them.
More Seminars Than Ever Before
APEC 2004 is offering 21 Professional Education Seminarssix more than ever before!
For the technical professional, APEC offers the traditional 15 Professional Education Seminars focused on power electronics design and technology. There is a lot of fresh material here from some of the best known names in power electronics. APEC 2004 is especially proud to welcome Professor Middlebrook of CalTech back to the seminar program. It has been several years since Dr. Middlebrook has given a class or a seminar anywhere so don't miss this opportunity!
But not everyone in power electronics is a design engineer! APEC 2004 has added six seminars for the non-technical professional in the power electronics business. The seminars cover fundamentals of the power supply business, regulatory requirements including the upcoming lead-free regulations and quality. One of the seminars features speakers from HP, Dell, Cisco and EMC sharing their best practices for qualifying power supplies and power suppliers. No where else will get a chance like to learn from the best of the best in power business.
An Incredible Plenary Session
Monday afternoon's Plenary Session has sought industry experts to give you the latest in several critical areas of power electronics business and technology including:
- The PSMA's report on the power electronics technology roadmap for the next five years,
- A review of developments in digital control,
- A call to action from a leading OEM to meet the ever more demanding power needs of electronic equipment,
- A forecast of how the power electronics business will look in the future,
- The role of power electronics in alternative energy supplies and
- How the need to conserver energy will drive requirements for higher and higher power supply efficiency.
And That's Not All!
And of course will have its fabulous Exposition with 150 booths, the Rap Sessions, a wonderful banquet in the new Disney California Adventure theme park, a program for spouses and guests of APEC participants and let's not forget to mention the MicroMouse contest!
The conference schedule has been adjusted a bit this year to give some free time on Tuesday evening. APEC is encouraging its Exhibitors to host hospitality functions on Tuesday evening to give everyone a chance to catch their breath and get to know the Exhibitors in a more relaxed setting than the Exhibit Hall.
With all of that, how can you not plan to be at 19th Annual Applied Power Electronics Conference And Exposition? We look forward to seeing you in Anaheim in February!
