Abstract :
Basic circuits of inverters and rectifiers based either on
transistors or on controlled rectifiers are drawn and it is
suggested that recent developments have allowed transistor
applications to extend to tens of kilowatts whereas thyristor
applications have extended downwards into the transistor range.
