This E-MRS symposium is aimed to give an overview of the current status of the wide field of novel optoelectronic devices, based on inorganic and organic materials of semiconducting, metallic and dielectric properties. Thus we call for papers giving the latest information on research and development in this field.
One emphasis will be on low-dimensional systems (quantum systems, microcavities and photonic band-gap materials) based on group III-V or IV semiconductors, or novel semiconductor materials and structures. Another emphasis will be on inorganic, organic amorphous (glassy), crystalline polymers or liquid crystalline (LC) materials in light-guided (substrate or waveguided) modes of operation. A third emphasis will be on hybrid organic (polymers, LCs) and inorganic (semiconducting) materials, systems and devices. Finally, this symposium addresses the issues of novel laser systems and materials, as well as of integrated and planar systems and devices for optoelectronic interconnects, spatial light modulators and display devices.
Presentations and papers on materials, devices and technologies are welcomed.
