Abstract :
The elimination of the most frequent cause of defects arising in
type NBE and NBER ultrathermostats manufactured in German Democratic
Republic are discussed. The suggested replacement of the mercury
switching relay by a semiconductor switching device-triac-allows the
improvement the service reliability as well as the elimination of
the problem of electric interference with other electric instruments
which has been taking place especially in the moment of switching on
the electric current to the heating element. The adapted
ultrathermostat fitted with TESLA KT 774 triacs can be employed at
continuous maximum heating element input of 1200 W at ambient
temperatures of up to 43 degrees C; those fitted with triacs TESLA
KT 784 are suitable for constant ambient working temperatures of up
to 51 degrees C.
