Abstract :
This brief review sets out to show what has been accomplished, and what remains as a challenge to both the semiconductor
and the user industries. In some areas the theoretical limits for materials and fabrication techniques are rapidly being
approached, and hence revolutionary developments are required to advance the state of the art. Thyristor and application
technology are discussed in particular.
