Abstract :
This article introduces a Chipswitch device from Crydom (International Rectifier).The essential part of the device is the S3X chip, which is a light sensitive thyristor derived from
HEXFET technology containing a zero voltage detector and a noise suppression circuit.Apart from microprocessor compatible applications in the process control area, the
Chipswitch can be used as an integrated firing circuit in power SSRs.This is an application which can be extended to include the control of power SCRs, Triacs and power modules
for all types of inductive loads, i.e.motors, transformers and electromagnetic systems.
