Abstract :
To enable the circuit designer to achieve reliable results in
protection equipment, the basic properties of power transistors are
reviewed, and a new parameter VCEW has been introduced which gives a
better definition of the performance of a transistor. The
distinction between circuits for improving switching and those for
surge limiting is also emphasized. A considerable number of circuits
are given and their mode of functioning described.
