Bari is the capital city of the Apulia region, on the Adriatic sea. It is the second economic centre of mainland Southern Italy and is well known as a port and university city, as well as the city of Saint Nicholas.
The densely built old town, between two modern harbors, includes the splendid Basilica of Saint Nicholas, the Cathedral and the Castle of Frederick II. The Murattiano section, the modern heart of the city, is laid out on a rectangular grid-plan with a promenade on the sea, and the major shopping district.
Apulia is a land of sea, sun and wind. Small old villages, middle age castles (first of all the famous Castel del Monte), typical rural buildings known as “trulli”, beautiful caverns such as Castellana caves, old countryside farms (“masserie”) and wonderful beaches contribute to create a unique mixture of culture, fun and cuisine.
Further information can be found on theTourism web page on this site.
Today, the region of Apulia is also known for its mechatronics industry and for its potentialities in wind and photovoltaic energy.
A typical July day in Bari is sunny with average temperature of 24 ˚C (76 ˚F).
The conference hotel is located in the heart of the modern town, very near to the sea and the old town.
The airport, located just 8 km from the town center, is served by around 20 airlines, including well-known low cost flight companies, with direct access to major Italian cities and several European cities.
