1999 Applied Power Electronics Conference (APEC '99)
Fourteenth Annual
IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition
Announcement and Call for Papers
March 14-18, 1999 | Adams Mark Hotel | Dallas, Texas |
APEC '99 will continue the tradition of focusing on the practical aspects of the power electronics profession. Presented papers, Professional Education Seminars and a comprehensive exposition will address the practical application of components, circuits and design techniques to the specification, manufacture and marketing of power electronic products and systems. Presentations that address new and emerging topics are welcome. Papers of practical importance are solicited in all areas of power electronics, including but not limited to:
DC-DC Converters | Power Semiconductors | Market Analysis & Strategies |
AC-DC Power Supplies | ICs For Power Electronics | Product & Technology Roadmaps |
Inverters & Cycloconverters | Design And Analysis Of Magnetic Devices | The Voice Of The Customer |
Soft Switching Techniques | New Developments In Capacitors | Identifying New & Emerging Markets |
Lamp Ballasts | High Density Packaging | Benchmarking Results |
Adjustable Speed Drives | Thermal Management | Quality Programs And Data |
Power Factor Correction | Distributed Power Systems | JIT & Material Management |
Design For High Efficiency | Uninterruptible Power Systems | Vendor Qualification |
High Frequency Design | Battery Systems | Manufacturing Processes |
Modeling And Analysis | Electric Traction Systems | Design For Manufacturability |
Control Of Converters & Systems | Automotive Applications | Technology Transfer |
Simulation Tools & Techniques | Protection Of Converters & Systems | Standardizing Specifications |
CAD/CAE Tools & Techniques | Preventing & Controlling EMI | Regulatory Requirements |
Deadline for Submission of Abstract and Digest is August 14, 1998.
Notification that a paper was accepted or declined will be mailed no later than October 5, 1998.
Manuscripts in final camera ready form will be due at the publishers no later than December 11, 1998.
Preparation of Abstracts and Digests: Prospective authors of technical papers and professional education seminars are asked to submit a 50-word Abstract and a three to five-page Digest (including figures, tables and references) of their planned presentation. Both Abstract and Digest should be typed and double-spaced on 8 1/2" x 11" (A4 size) paper. All authors should obtain company and governmental clearance prior to submission of Abstracts and Digests.
The heading of the Abstract must include the title of the presentation and the names and affiliations of all author(s). If there are multiple authors, the Corresponding Author must be clearly identified with mailing address, telephone and fax numbers, and e-mail address (if available). The heading of the Digest should include only the title with no mention of the authors or their affiliations. The Digest should clearly state the purpose and contribution of the work, specific results and the methods used.
Eight (8) copies of the Abstract and Digest (originals are not required) should be mailed in time to be received no later than August 14, 1998. Abstracts and Digests submitted by facsimile will not be accepted.
A peer review process will be used to evaluate all papers submitted for consideration. The principal criterion in reviewing papers for acceptance will be the usefulness of the presentation to the practicing power electronics professional.
Manuscripts not received at the publisher by the deadline above may not be published. Papers that are not published in the Proceedings will not be presented at the conference. Finished manuscripts that exceed seven pages will be subject to publication page charges.
Professional Education Seminars at APEC are typically three hours in length and can range from broad to narrow in scope, introductory to advanced in level. If you are interested in presenting a Professional Education Seminar at APEC '99, please contact the APEC '99 offices to request the Prospective Seminar Speaker's Guidelines.
APEC '99 will be sponsored by The IEEE Power Electronics Society, the IEEE Industry Applications Society and the Power Sources Manufacturers Association.
