Travelling to the UK

Star Graphic

Birmingham is the definition of a modern and connected international city and Birmingham International Airport is one of the most accessible airports in Europe. It also lies at the centre of the UK's motorway network enabling easy access to all major UK cities. It is also adjacent to Birmingham International Rail Station, and provides a 90 second, no hassle connection via the Air-Rail Link people mover system into the heart of each transport hub. Birmingham International Station links directly to the national rail network with hourly services to Central London, which is only 76 minutes away. Birmingham International is the UK's third largest Airport for charter traffic and has the highest proportion of business traffic second only to London Heathrow. In 2008, it handled over nine million passengers through its two terminals and acts as the Midlands' premier gateway to Europe, Scandinavia, North America, the Middle East and the Indian sub-continent. Over 50 airlines operate scheduled and charter services to more than 100 destinations including daily departures to New York and a twice daily service to Dubai. Its European route network to 16 European capital cities includes daily flights to Paris and Frankfurt.

Train Stations

Birmingham New Street Station lies in the heart of the city and is the hub of the UK rail network. High-speed trains to London Euston operate three times an hour and the journey takes just 82 minutes. Birmingham New Street Station's importance is recognised by an ambitious redevelopment plan, which will effectively see the creation of a completely new station on the current site, scheduled to be complete in 2014, with a total spend of £600 million. Immediately adjacent to the Birmingham International Airport, Birmingham International Station serves both the National Exhibition Centre and the airport, with direct links to both and 250 departures a day.
