Invitation
The Organising Committee is pleased to announce next SPEEDAM
International Symposium on Power Electronics, Electrical Drives, Automation and
Motion. It continues a long series started in earlier 70s, in a pioneeristic era
for conferences in the field of Electrical Engineering.
The Organising Committee is glad to invite you to SPEEDAM 2008 which will be
held in ISCHIA -Italy- from 11 to 13 June 2008.
Symposium Objectives
Traditionally SPEEDAM Symposium is a place where experts of
industrial and academic world can discuss together with users about recent
developments and actual trends in the field of POWER ELECTRONICS, ELECTRICAL
DRIVES, AUTOMATION, ELECTRICAL ENERGY MANAGEMENT AND POWER QUALITY. Within
these areas, SPEEDAM 2008 has also the aim to identify the most relevant
applications evidencing main problems and strategies.
Contributions
The Organizing Committee invites you to participate in the
Symposium by presenting a paper within the delineated framework. In addition to
the main topics, papers on other important subjects of the central Symposium
themes will be considered for the inclusion in the Scientific Programme.
Authors interested in submitting a paper are kindly requested to send a synopsis
of two A4-pages at least. Files in .pdf or .doc format should be addressed by
e-mail to the Symposium Secretariat before November 15th, 2007.
The synopsis should be clearly headed with the title of the paper, the reference
topic and eventual further keywords. The content should outline the subject
along with a brief summary of the substance of the presentation, the techniques
employed, the latest results in the field at issue, possible links with earlier
studies, the goals achieved and the original contribution given. Key formulas,
figures, tables and reference list are well-accepted.
Furthermore, on a separate page authors should indicate their name,
accreditation, address and the title of the paper, underlining the author to
contact for correspondence.
Authors will be informed by e-mail about the acceptance of their paper by
January 31st, 2008. Selected authors will be requested to deliver their full
length manuscript not later than April 15th, 2008.
Venue
SPEEDAM 2008 International Symposium will be held in Ischia,
at the Continental Terme Hotel.
Ischia is the largest and most populated island in the bay of Naples, which
includes also Capri, Procida and Vivara.
Ischia was founded in 770 b.C. by Greeks with the name of Pithecusae (probably
meaning “monkey’s muzzle”). Later the ancient Romans discovered the
extraordinary properties of the hot springs, really abundant on this island.
Ischia has volcanic origins; in a Greek myth, the giant Tifeo was condemned by
Zeus to live at the foot of the island, erupting flames and hot boiling water
and causing earthquakes. In Ischia volcanism left its mark, influencing human
settlements. Among the most important archaeological finds there are some
fragments of ceramic, terra-cotta weights for fishing nets and some stone tools,
made of flint and obsidian.
Now Ischia is one of the most renowned and visited touristic destinations in the
Mediterranean Sea. With its volcanic hearth of fire, Ischia has Europe’s largest
concentration of thermal acquifers with a very large number of spa
establishments and parks. They have made Ischia the world-famous “island of
well-being”, visited by millions of young and old people, and by many
celebrities.
Ischia- the green island- is charming because it offers nature and culture,
history and myth, within a framework of a breathtaking landscape and a
picturesque architecture.
Information
Details on the Symposium programme, social events and hotel
accommodation will be published in the 2nd announcement and will also be
