The program committee meeting will be held on Saturday, December 12, 1998 at the Horton Grand Hotel in San Diego, CA. The venue is a small, restored historic hotel next to San Diego's Gaslamp Entertainment District. San Diego's bayfront is only a few blocks away, as is a large shopping center (for last minute Christmas shopping?). The hotel is located within walking distance from these attractions and offers complimentary airport transportation. Thus, a rental car is not required, but is recommended if you want to explore other areas before or after the committee meeting. We have reserved a block of rooms for program committee meeting at the following special rates:
These special rates (subject to 10.5% occupancy tax) are in effect from Thursday through Saturday nights, Dec. 10 through 12, inclusive. The room block is held until NOVEMBER 10, 1998; after this date, rooms are available on a space available basis. December is a popular time in San Diego and I urge you to make your travel arrangements as soon as possible. Please call the HORTON GRAND HOTEL at 1-800-542-1886 and mention that you are with the IEEE PESC Meeting?. If you decide to participate in the meeting on Dec. 12, please also send to Rene Spee, Program Committee Chair, a brief confirmation at e-mail: spee@maxwell.com. This will allow us locally to prepare enough copies of the review materials and to ensure that hotel arrangements (meeting rooms, meals, etc.) are suitable for our group. Also, please let me know your time of arrival and airline, so that we can confirm the airport pickup with the hotel.
