The room rate is USD60.00 plus 12% tax. To receive this room rate you must mention that you are attending PESC '97. While the PESC '97 meeting has rooms blocked off only until December 20 you will be able to receive this rate even if you book after this date. This is a very quiet time of year and the hotel should not be full. However, if the hotel is full, please contact me and I will direct you to any number of nearby hotels.

If you are arriving by air, your flight should terminate at Raleigh/Durham International Airport (RDU). The Brownestone Hotel has a free shuttle service. Use the courtesy phone located at the kiosks in either airport terminal. If you are renting a car, exit the airport and follow the signs to Interstate 40 (I-40) east to Raleigh. At exit 289, stay to the right and exit (two lanes) onto Wade Avenue. Staying on Wade Avenue cross the interchanges for Blue Ridge Road and the I-440 "beltline" and Wade Avenue becomes a more residential street. After several intersections exit right onto Oberlin Road. Follow Oberlin road until it terminates at Hillsborough Street. Turn left, travel two blocks, and the hotel is on the right. I regret that if you arrive Friday afternoon the traffic on this route may be quite heavy and you should plan accordingly.

If you are arriving by automobile follow the appropriate set of directions below:

Traveling east on I-40 pass the airport and follow the directions as above. Traveling north on I-85 merge with I-40 east at Greensboro and follow the directions above.

Traveling south on I-95, exit at Rocky Mount onto US 64 west. Follow US 64 until the interchange with the I-440 beltline and continue straight on New Bern Avenue. Eventually New Bern Avenue will fork and you will be on Edenton Street (one way). After you pass the North Carolina State Capitol turn left on Salisbury St. (one way) and follow it for one block and then turn right on Hillsborough Street. Follow Hillsborough Street until you see the Brownestone Hotel on your left. (If you reach the campus of NC State University then you have traveled too far.)

If you arriving by automobile traveling north on I-95, exit onto I-40 west near Benson. Follow I-40 until the interchange with the I-440 beltline and exit onto the "outer loop" of I-440 until you reach the interchange with New Bern Avenue and US 64. Follow the signs for New Bern Avenue and Raleigh and then procede as above.
