Working Group Meeting for IEEE Standards Project P1461

The Working Group of the IEEE Standards Project P1461 Recommended Practice for Power Electronics Module Interface is scheduled to meet on Monday, February 24, 1997, from 9:00 am to 12 noon at the Westin Peachtree Hotel, Atlanta, GA, the site of the 1997 IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference.

The first formal meeting was held on September 10, 1996, in Las Vegas, Nevada, at PCIM '96. There were 24 people attending the meeting. Dennis Darcy, Chairperson of the Working Group, gave an overview of the project and how the group will be operated. Mark Harris, Vice Chair and Secretary of the Working Group, reviewed plans to use WWW and electronic transmission for Working Group communications. Dr.Arthur Kelley and Sunil Chhaya gave strawman talks for standardization concept and module specifications.

During the meeting, the task groups were formed with five volunteers to head these groups:

Control Interface, Angelo Ferraro of Harris Semiconductor Power; Interface, John Miller of Ford Scientific Research Laboratory; Thermal Interface, Paul Davis of Omnicon; Functionality and Performance, Sunil Chhaya of GM Advanced Technology Vehicles; Mechanical Interface, Jeff Fishbein of Bergquist

Dennis Darcy also presented the tentative meeting schedule throughout 1997 and 1998:

Winter '97: APEC '97, late February, Atlanta; Spring/Summer '97: PESC '97, June, St Louis; Summer/Fall '97: PCIM '97, September; Winter '98: APEC '98, February; Spring/Summer '98: IEEE HQ, June, Piscataway, NJ.

The Working Group and the Recommended Practice are still evolving. All interested parties are invited to take part of it. Please make your reservation early to participate at APEC 97 and the next Working Group Meeting.
