Abstract :
Previous methods of protecting junctions are reviewed. Use of glass,
which has valuable qualities for the purpose, represents an advance,
first applied to small diodes, then to triacs. Questions discussed
are: choice of type of glass, method of application, avoidance of
bubbles, and provision for leads. Use of glass is thought likely to
increase, and hybrid circuits offer further possibilities.
