IN THE FOOD PROCESSING INDUSTRY

This February 2002 conference will be the 32nd in a series of highly informative meetings that address environmental and energy topics in the food processing industry. The conference will bring together environmental and energy managers from Fortune 100 food and beverage firms as well as managers from smaller firms and representatives from academia, government, food industry trade associations, the legal profession, equipment suppliers, and environmental consultants. Each of these professionals will bring their unique perspectives and experiences to be shared by the group. This conference will include formal papers presented in an informal setting, which is conducive to interactive discussions, as well as poster sessions. The program is designed to encourage interactive discussions between presenters and attendees and, thus, will allow ample time for networking and one-on-one interactions between presenters and participants.

The program will include discussions of the broad scope of environmental issues currently facing the food industry. Some of the topics that will be covered are regulatory updates, management issues, electronic data management, improved resource usage, wastewater treatment, air quality technologies, public relations issues, and legal ramifications.

The Chair of the Conference is Dr. Gottfried Haase of Kraft Canada, Inc. The Co-Chair is Larry Perry of Frito Lay, Inc. The Program Advisor is Bob Braun of Heinz Frozen Food Co. Members of the Organizing Committee are from the food manufacturing industry, engineering consultant firms, suppliers/vendors and trade organizations.
