Abstract :
Smart power technologies are a means for integration of analog,
digital and power functions on one piece of silicon, with output
characteristics similar to those of discrete power devices. They can
be considered as a support for partial or full integration of power
systems on silicon. Here, the author describes how system definition
and 'in-depth' system understanding, optimum system partitioning and
choice of the most suitable technology are key issues in smart power
developments.
