Info : recherche du 16 juin 1998

Application_Report_Abstract :
The DSP Controller TMS320F240 from Texas Instruments is suitable for a wide range of motor drives. TMS320F240 provides a single chip solution by
integrating on-chip not only a high computational power but also all the peripherals necessary for electric motor control. The present application
note describes how a sensorless, speed controlled, brushless DC drive can be implemented using TMS320F240. This document shows that this sensorless
solution is single chip and really cost effective in comparison with the sensored solution.

Application_Report_Abstract :
The principle of vector control of electrical drives is based on the control of both the magnitude and the phase of each phase current and
voltage. For as long as this type of control considers the three phase system as three independent systems the control will remain analog and
thus present several drawbacks. Since high computational power silicon devices, such as the TMS320F240 from TI, came to market it has been
possible to realize far more precise digital vector control algorithms. The most common of these accurate vector controls is presented in this
document: the Field Orientated Control, a digital implementation which demonstrates the capability of performing direct torque control, of
handling system limitations and of achieving higher power conversion efficiency.

TOP

Info : recherche du 16 juin 1998
Stockage : Thierry LEQUEU
Application_Report_Abstract :
The CS4231 is a 16 bit stereo codec chip with various features, such as multiple analog inputs and outputs, mixing, and gain capabilities, that make them ideal
for computer sound applications [1][2]. The digital interface consists of a parallel 8-bit bus and is meant to directly connect to a PC (ISA/EISA)
interface. Since it is a glueless interface to a PC bus, it looks a bit different from a TMS320C5x or other TMS320 DSPs with asynchronous memory
interface. This Application Note describes an optimum interface to a TMS320C5x DSP. Note that other TMS320 DSP asynchronous buses are very similar and most of
the interface described here will also apply to any TMS320 DSP system. In this implementation the TMS320C5x and codec share the same bus with SRAM. This
tradeoff keeps pin count and thus cost down, at the cost of performance. A separate codec bus mapped into the DSP's memory or I/O space would make the
system more efficient and is briefly described at the end of this Application Note along with other system considerations.

SPRA404 : PROPER USAGE OF TMS320C5X TIMING SPECIFICATIONS FOR HIGH-SPEED MEMORY INTERFACE

TOP

Info : recherche du 16 juin 1998
Stockage : Thierry LEQUEU
Application_Report_Abstract :
This designer note page describes how to properly interpret the Texas Instruments (TI) TMS320C5x timing specifications to design an interface
to memory and to other external devices. Designing a high-speed interface between the TMS320C5x digital signal processor (DSP) and memory or other
parallel devices poses interesting circuit design considerations. The 'C5x device data sheet provides a wide variety of timing specifications for
various aspects of device operation. Proper interpretation of these timing specifications is critical to ensure that timing requirements are met over
all conditions of read and write operations without excessively constraining the design to a higher speed interface than necessary.

SPRA420 : DEVELOPING AN SRM DRIVE SYSTEM USING THE TMS320F240

TOP

Application_Report_Abstract :
This report describes the basic operation of switched reluctance motors (SRMs) and demonstrates how TMS320F240 DSP-based SRM drive from Texas
Instruments can be used to achieve a wide variety of control objectives.
The first part of the report offers a detailed review of the operation and characteristics of SRMs. The advantages and disadvantages of this type of
motor are cited.
The second part of the report provides examples and strategies for overcoming the limitations cited for SRMs. The examples have complete
hardware and software details for developing an SRM drive system using the TMS320F240. Both conventional and position sensorless operations are
described, along with the theoretical basis for designing the various control algorithms. The examples can be used as baseline designs, which
can be easily modified to accommodate a specific application.

Abstract :
Texas Instruments TMS320C24x DSP Controller family is suitable for a wide range of
motor drives and power electronics applications. To help the customer with this DSP
Controller family and thus to reduce both the development time and the time to market,
Texas Instruments offers complete DSP Controller based solutions for driving power
applications. As one of these solutions, this report gives details of a 12-24V 30A
power board design compatible with the DSP controller control boards.

BPRA077 : 3-PHASE MEASURE SINGLE LINE RESIST F240

TOP

Lien : BPRA077.pdf
Abstract :
Most inverter control systems require a knowledge of the phase currents.
The simplest method of obtaining these currents is to measure them directly.
Depending on the motor winding connections, this requires at least two sensors
to be applied directly to the motor phases. Usually, these types of sensors are
expensive due to their need to be isolated. There is a second method of measuring
these phase currents using a simple, cheap resistor. However, under certain
conditions, the measurement becomes difficult and even impossible due to hardware
limitations. In this paper, a solution is described for circumventing this problem
and results are given following its implementation on a Digital Signal Processor,
the TMS320F240 from Texas Instruments.
