Abstract: The stated fault growth and on-line diagnostics date of oil-filled HV apparatus in some regions of power system is admittedly based on abnormal ambient temperature increasing at summer in east Europe.

The sudden intensification of PD activity increase from 100 to 10000 pC in HV apparatus insulation is revealed under growth of average daily ambient temperatures.

Operation of apparatus under these conditions lead to some catastrophic damages of measuring 330-750 kV CT transformers and power transformer.

Besides this correlation some “temperature” studying of aged power transformer insulation condition while making special tests on factory are described: PD analyses and location in connection with temperature, visual internal inspection of transformers, new method of defect detecting based on superimposed pulse injection into transformer winding with synchronous PD measuring.
